Tarbert is the main town of the Isle of Harris and is taken from the Gaelic word for ‘isthmus’ or ‘crossing point’ meaning that it joins south Harris to north Harris and the Isle of Lewis. It is known for being the ferry port for Harris and enjoys a stunning setting with dramatic mountains forming a picturesque backdrop to the town.
