It's the best place to sleep in Tarbert. Staff super kind and professional. Delicious breakfast. Nice room: modern and cosy. Dinner at the pub was ok. Location-wise is the perfect place to enjoy the magnificent sandy beaches of Harris.

This is a lovely little 1 bedroom cottage. We thought we would have 2 bedrooms but instead had a hide a bed in the living room. There was a communication issue and we did not have bedding for the hide a bed though that was remedied.....The kitchen was great and there was a washer, though no drier. The wood burning stove was a delight as we had a very rainy, cold windy night and it warmed the house quickly. The owner has a 2 bedroom cottage across the street and we would book that next time. This cottage is perfect for a couple, not great for two friends traveling together.

Very interesting history of the house. Comfortable rooms with great views. You can see how much thought and care went into Iain and Elizabeth’s design of the house. Great breakfast too!

We stayed here because we were getting the ferry the next day, but its a beautiful little village and in retrospect I wouldn't have wanted to stay anywhere else its a great base for exploring. The Nook & Scranny shop and the Pierhouse café/restaurant were particular favourites of ours.

The house is wonderful as are the people who look after it - nothing is too much trouble if you have a query or need help with something The property is in a little place called Maraig rather than in Tarbert which is about 15 minuts drive away so trust the post code when it takes you off the Tarbert road!

Tarbert is quiet, but there are plenty of places to go to from there. It's nice to watch the ferry come and go. Lots of nice wee shops to browse. If you want to visit the distillery, check the opening times. It closes at 12.30 on a Saturday, so we missed it, not having checked beforehand. Be prepared for almost nothing open on a Sunday.

The locals and shopkeepers we met in the village were very friendly and helpful. The local grocers are good for topping up provisions, if you are self catering and have done a larger shop in Portree before catching the Ferry. The deli, cafe and hotel restaurants are excellent and the North Harbour Bistro on Scalpay is worth a visit and only a short drive away. The Isle of Harris distillery is next to the Ferry Terminal and there is an excellent gift shop across the road from it for little memories and lots of Harris Tweed options Luskentyre beach is less than 20 minutes away Watch out f9r the sheep on the roads!

We should have booked round the Tarbert distillery as there were no spaces when we called in to see. What a lovely place, well worth a visit even if you can’t get a tour. We ate at the Hebrides Inn, owned by John’s daughter and son in law and the food and staff were excellent

We stayed outside Tarbert but made use of Tarbert for shopping, petrol and dinner. The town is cute (there aren't many towns to speak of on these islands anyway) and has all the basic necessities you'd need during a stay on Harris/Lewis. Obviously, for anything major, you'd have to go to Stornoway, but that doesn't usually apply to people on holidays.

We had a great stay at this property. It’s a beautiful house, with plenty of space for everyone. Very comfortable beds and everything that’s needed for a comfortable happy stay. The location was perfect for us. Great location to explore the island. Very close to Tarbert and close to lots of beautiful beaches. Bryan was very quick to respond to any questions we had about the property.

Dunarain is excellent and has negated any need to venture to hotels with your host providing an exceptional Bento-box style breakfast and evening drinks, brilliantly comfortable, personable and spotlessly clean - will definitely be back!
