Location was amazing. We stayed there for our Inverness trip and it was also our wedding anniversary. It was great that they decorated our room with balloons and left a nice note.

FAQs about hotels in Inverness

Gateway to the Highlands and Loch Ness

A jewel with historic buildings and charming streets, Inverness is surrounded by a typical Scottish Highland landscape. It is located 10 km from Loch Ness, along the mouth of the Ness River and the Moray Firth coast. It is regarded as the northernmost city in the United Kingdom, and capital of the Highlands.

Take a walk around the Old Town, visit St Andrew’s Cathedral, and make a stopover in the charming Victorian Market. The Old High St Stephen's Church is the oldest building in town, and has been a religious site since pre-Christian times.

The Inverness Castle overlooks the river and is nowadays the seat of the Sheriff Court. A hotel in Inverness city centre is ideal to enjoy the different cultural and recreational activities in town.

Watch the Atlantic salmon jumping out the river near the Ness Islands, and try to catch a glimpse of the famous monster of Loch Ness. The Cairngorms National Park is 40 km away, and Chanonry Point is the best spot to watch dolphins, just 24 km away.

Inverness hotels include a large offer of small, cosy guest houses, B&B’s, and rural cottages, allowing a closer contact with the nature. Don’t miss the Inverness accommodation deals on Booking.com!

Inverness is a great town.

Inverness is a great town. Plenty of places for coffee and food. Plenty of bars. Good shopping centre. I recommend Coyote for burgers and The Old Town for fish and chips. If you have time take a drive to Nairn, the beach is amazing.

A nice, compact city centre with plenty of independent shops. Lots of interesting places to eat. A large retail site is a short bus ride away. Many cultural and historical sites to see, and the occasional bagpipe is an added bonus.

I'm not a city fan generally, and we used it as a base to travel about, but it is very quiet for a city and had loads of lovely places to go walking, especially along the river. We liked it, and a show at the theatre which was a great way to finish off the visit. The electric bus service (Ember) which we didn't know about until we arrived was excellent for all our trips out. Highly recommend that as an alternative to the train back to Edinburgh, and to get to the Aviemore and other places.

On e night was enough- we saw the Culloden BAttlefield (3 hours) and skipped the Cawdor Castle, although that looked grand. NOt much else there caught my interest. ITs where you stay when you visit Loch Ness, I suppose. Definately dont miss the Urquhart castle on Loch Ness, but book a few days in advance as its a timed entry..

Inverness is a great place from which to visit the Highlands, and there are also plenty of local attractions, most of which can be reached on foot or by public transport. Locally, the Ness Islands and Botanical gardens were a scenic and tranquil highlight for me. Further out, Dunrobin Castle was stunning and I highly recommend a journey on the Kyle of Lochalsh line for breathtaking views of lochs, rivers and glens.

The Wee Lodge is just fantastic. Shona and Steve who live in the main house were welcoming, friendly and extremely helpful hosts. After almost 3 weeks driving in Northern Scotland, staying in a variety of mostly really good accommodation, this was by far the best. It is really not "wee", rather a spacious, comfortable, beautifully decorated and excellently equipped home for a day, a week or a month. The garden setting was lovely and the location in Inverness really good for walking or driving to the city

Breakfast was excellent, the staff was pleasant, they also packed breakfast for us on the morning of our departure; we had to checkout at 6am. The atmosphere is quiet, location excellent, and free parking was available on the hotel compound, which was great for us; as we had rented a vehicle for this road trip in Scotland.

A really amazing little property - more than we expected. Beautifully laid out and gave us everything we needed for our stay in the north of Scotland. We felt very comfortable and relaxed through our stay and provided us easy access to Inverness, Loch Ness and wider area. Brilliant - will definitely return!
