Company info

The experience of hosting can be rewarding and sometimes a bit stressful! We love meeting travellers, and hearing their stories. We've lived locally for over 40 years. We love Aberystwyth, the Welsh Riviera, and like anything that you're proud of, we want to share it! The air is clean and there's a diverse and eclectic mix of people who are attracted to the area who's presence is woven into the rich Welsh culture. It makes Aberystwyth a unique place. We love music, Bill is a left handed drummer, a pianist, and guitarist, the creative force. An engineer and conservator and saviour of all things old and loved. I'm a locally born Welsh speaker, I love to cook and eat, and to sing when Bill plays. Together we enjoy messing about with old boats...and occasionally some sailing!

Property info

Bryn Awel was originally a 10 bedroomed Temperance hotel built in 1835. Today it's a private house with a guest apartment on the ground floor. It's a listed building, and it still has it original sash windows, floor boards in the bedrooms, floor tiles in the hall way, cornice work, pillars, and fireplaces! If you look up to the 3rd floor you can see a gallery window, Over the years it has undergone many incarnations. During WWII it housed troops who left graffiti in the attic! If you're after something a little bit different you'll enjoy the character in this building. This is NOT modern minimalist accommodation. Bryn Awel (Hill Breeze) is a very old, occasionally storm beaten building standing majestically, looking West over the Irish Sea. She has welcomed many a weary traveller over the centuries, if the walls could speak...Bryn Awel overlooks the late 13thC Castle Ruins and park. The Sea is within sniffing distance just on the other side of the castle The location is perfect for a stay in a Victorian Seaside Town on the Welsh Coast!

Neighborhood info

Castle Rooms is situated in the heart of old Aberystwyth beside Aberystwyth Castle, St Michaels Church and 'The old College' (The first incarnation of Aberystwyth University). The harbour is very close by, the streets are narrow, and there's an old feel about this end of town. Street parking is free and mainly unlimited, during peak times it's busy, so allow a little time to find a space. St Michael's Church have a charged carpark. There is also charged parking by the harbour. If you're prepared for a 5-10 min walk there is long stay charged parking.
