Alder Cottage is a former cowshed which was converted into a bungalow in the 1970s. It has a quirky layout that offers plenty of space for groups, families and pets. There is parking for 5 cars alongside the cottage and further parking may be available on request to the rear of the building. There is a patio space accessible from the main lounge and a decked area with a table and benches that seats 16 outside alongside the cottage. This area is gated so that dogs and children can roam freely. The village has communal grounds and woodlands, as well as being situated on a public bridleway. It's a very quiet peaceful village. The cottage is family & group friendly with a lounge that overlooks the village centre, and two further lounge/games rooms, one of which can be converted to a twin room. It's fully wheelchair accessible with wide doorways and accessible toilets. A newly renovated kitchen offers dining space for 16 people with a dishwasher, freezer & washing machine. We're dog friendly with lots of walks nearby.
The building is unusual, it was converted from a cowshed and we are still renovating it as we go so please do excuse any decor flaws. We live next door to the cottage where we are renovating the neighbouring building. We'll do our best to meet you to show you around on arrival but stay out of your way and you can contact us by phone/text/e-mail.
The village is situated just under 20 minutes off the M5 (junction 27) and we are a few minutes' drive from Exmoor and about 40 minutes from the nearest beach so very well situated for country getaways. The nearest shop is 5 miles (about 15 minutes' drive) away, open 6am - 11pm. There is a great tapas bar, Wild Woods Tapas Bar, about a mile down the road (open for advance bookings of 6 or more people) and several nearby local country pubs that we can recommend. The village itself is very quiet, there are just 15 houses here, and the village is accessed via a private driveway so it's self-contained.
