Seonaid wants Almondbank Cottage to be your home from home. She has tried to make it a cosy comfortable cottage which she personally prepares for your stay. The cottage does not take new guests on departure days allowing for later check outs 11am and check ins at 2pm There are radiators in each room that are individually controlled and a thermostat in the hall keeps the cottage to one temperature. New double glazing, boiler and insulation makes the cottage Scottish Energy Rating “C” Bath and hand towels are stored in the wardrobe and each guest has a different colour. There are lots of adapters and usb chargers throughout the cottage to charge you devices. The comfortable, cosy sitting room has plenty of seating for guests to relax and recharge. There is a cd player with Bluetooth speakers for your own music playlists. The “Oor Willie” art work in the sitting room was chosen as the creators DC Thompson were Colin’s first client in his Engineering Career. Seonaid’s uncle delivered the newspapers throughout Scotland and she eagerly awaited her copy of the annual every Christmas. Her family were a bit like “The Broons” in her Grannies traditional cottage. In the kitchen there is Nespresso coffee machine with extra large Aeroccino hot milk frother - three pods are provided per person per nights stay. There is also some biscuits and tea and sugar in the cupboard. There is a dishwasher and washing machine - one dishwasher tablet and washing machine capsule are provided per nights stay. There is washing up liquid and hand soap by the sink. The kitchen is well equipped with Ninja Pans, cutlery, crockery, mugs glasses and serving dishes, dish towels and oven gloves. Breakfast bar to dine in kitchen with stunning views over Loch Snizort. Touch LED bathroom mirror and full length and circular mirror in each bedroom. Lovely Loch Snizort views out of the kitchen and bedroom window. Sometimes you will see Highland cows on the crofts next door to the cottage.

In 2022 the McAlpine family moved back home to the Isle of Skye. Seonaid lives with her husband Colin and son Robert about 4 miles from Almondbank Cottage. The Cottage was Seonaid’s home before she got married and her parents Christina and Donald-John still live next door. You are welcome to come up to Uigshader where we live to visit and meet. We might be able to give you some fresh eggs depending on how the free range garden hens are laying. Seonaid is a full member of the Association of Reflexologists. Reflexology is a complementary therapy which works well alongside conventional medicine and may help your body restore its natural balance. Colin now looks after Robert (their son) full time and Seonaid helps as much as possible. Robert has a learning disability and non verbal autism.

Almondbank Cottage is 8 miles from Portree. It is a twenty minute walk or five minute drive to Skeabost Hotel. It is an eleven minute drive to Edinbane and twenty five minute drive to the ferry terminal at Uig. The central location of the cottage makes it perfect for touring the Island. Skeabost Hotel is a twenty minute walk away and most of the walk is just to the side of the main road.
