Ballat Smithy Cottage was created from the former workshops of Ballat Smithy, which dates from the late 18th Century. The thick stone walls and sheeps' wool insulation ensure the cottage is warm in winter and cool in summer. The cottage is surrounded by beautiful countryside, and our location is ideal for those wishing to explore central and southern Scotland.
The Currie family have lived here since 1988, and every day we appreciate how fortunate we are to have such a lovely place to share with visitors. We enjoy riding our horses and walking with our dogs around the lochs and forests of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs. The cottage is beside our home, and we are always available to answer questions, provide information, or help you plan your day.
Our central location just a short drive from the east shore of Loch Lomond makes Ballat Smithy Cottage the ideal choice for travellers looking to explore this outstanding area. From archery to walking and water based activities, there's something for everyone wishing to get outdoors and be active. Scottish culture and history are easily accessed, from live music in local pubs to small museums showcasing the area's rich heritage and major attractions in the great cities of Glasgow & Edinburgh.
