This was perfect for me as a landing place close to the airport for one night. I felt completely safe walking all around on my own and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. I would not hesitate to stay again.

Queensferry was a lovely afternoon adventure.
Queensferry was a lovely afternoon adventure. We walked through the village on a Sunday afternoon, cafes were full of people. The views of the river and the big bridges were impressive. We had good cappuccinos at Brew Culture, and lovely conversation with the owners. Young boys were fishing at the dock, grandparents were out for strolls with their families, the flowers were in bloom, visitors from a cruise ship were exploring the cafes, it was a fun local experience!

Broxburn is situated about 18 miles West from central Edinburgh & about 7 miles West from the airport.
(Bus X18 runs to/from both about every 30 mins).
It's a quiet neighborhood with plenty of shops, restaurants, pubs, etc within 10/15 minutes walking distance - depending on where exactly you are.
Safe enough area to walk about at night.
I was here for work (4 nights/days) & didn't visit any attractions, etc but I'm sure most would be easily accessible.

Not much in Ratho, the canal is a particular favourite as lots of activity and it’s quite picturesque. Easy access to Edinburgh scenery is fabulous and if it’s a quiet time you want then this is the place to go.

The apartment is very clean, well decorated, and interesting, with a reading nook in the second bedroom and a "hidden" foosball room. The bed in the second bedroom was a futon, so not very comfortable. Poor quality of towels. The host sent the wrong code for the lockbox at first and did not respond to my question about parking. The neighborhood isn't very good and the hallway and stairways up to the apartment were dark and uneven. We ordered excellent pizza from the curry place across the street. The apartment was fine for the purpose of getting to the airport in the morning, but I wouldn't return.

Robert Louis Stevenson knew Queensferry well, and you 'll find it in his classic book Kidnapped. The Romans had a garrison in Cramond 5 miles along the coast, two thousand years ago. Queensferry has very good restaurants, bakery, coffee shops & pubs - and some hidden gems, such as the National Lifeboat Institute shop on the old ferry pier, and the terrific pottery gift shop/workshop/cafe under the magnificent, cantilevered Victorian railway bridge. Both of them tucked away, but well worth checking out.
