The ambience at the Baskerville is smart / informal and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. They were able to cater for coeliacs and our evening meal and breakfast were both excellent

The breakfast was good and they accommodated us to a slightly earlier time which worked out well for us. All the staff seemed genuine and had smiling faces at any time of day. Graham was particularly warm and friendly.

Company info

There is a huge choice of activities in the local area. The River Thames offers boat rides, canoeing and paddle boarding locally as well as the Thames Path that joins all of the local villages along the river. There are fantastic shops in Henley on Thames, as well as a weekly Thursday market. If you aren't dining in our lovely new restaurant, you can choose from the many options in Henley on Thames or venture further afield to Waterside at Bray or Hurley House. We are lucky enough to have a number of local vineyards who offer tours and tasting events and the wonderful Chilterns provide superb countryside walks. You can also hire bikes locally if you wanted to explore around the area.

Property info

Our pub has recently had a complete ground up refurbishment and now features a contemporary indoor bar and restaurant area as well as a brand new kitchen. The newly landscaped garden is perfect for warm summer afternoons and evenings. Each of our four bedrooms have been designed with comfort and cosiness in mind, and are the perfect place to relax after a Thames Path river walk, or a trip into Henley on Thames. One of our rooms has an extra bed if you are a small family. We are ideally situated to stay if you are attending the Henley Royal Regatta, or the Henley festival, being just a 4 minute train or taxi ride from both major events. The village of Lower Shiplake is a quaint English riverside village, with a small post office, butchers and village shop. It's quiet and pretty and has a wonderful local community. The new owners of the Baskerville Arms are both local families who wanted to keep the pub in the village and continue its history of great service and pub food.

Neighborhood info

Lower Shiplake is a picturesque village situated along the banks of the River Thames in Oxfordshire, adjoining the market town of Henley on Thames. It is a charming and tranquil area characterised by its scenic countryside views and riverside position. With a thriving local community, the village is an ideal retreat from the hustle and bustle of urban life. There are a huge amount of both countryside and river activities to take advantage of, including Thames Path walks and local dog walks.
