The hotel was nice . Although the location is such that you need to have your own car . The staff were very friendly and adjusting. For meals like dinner, we had to book in the advance in the morning as the kitchen would be busy . Room was really nice and big .... beautiful rooms ....

Chipping Norton is an ideal staging post for the Cotswolds within easy striking distance of Diddly Squat Farm, The Rollright Stones, Bourton on the Water and its model village, Stow on the Wold, Lower and Upper Slaughter, Bibury, Tetbury, Broadway and the jewel in its crown --the exquisite birthplace of Winston Churchill at Blenheim Palace. The town itself has a myriad of pubs and first class restaurants (especially La Vecchia Cantina Italian) and also houses a quaint theatre from a bygone age which offers a wide spectrum of entertainment.

The main house looks very nice, but sadly that was not where we got our room. They build a very cheap and ugly side building, which is nor even connected to the main house, and it is not very nice. The room is basic, so kind of OK, but to go to the gym, swimming pool or breakfast you have to walk through part of the garden to the main hous. OK when weather is nice, not so great when its raining.

You cannot fault Henley as a location.

You cannot fault Henley as a location. The river Thames is easily accessible from town (you walk alongside the river) and the town itself is well cared for and has that independent feel that many towns these days do not. Plenty of good places to eat and drink. The pubs all have their own character and "The Little Angel" (over the bridge - away from town) is to be recommended. Recently refurbished and good food served. Another recommendation for food is "The Flower Pot". It can be easily reached by car (outside of Henley town) but you can walk along the riverside path (it is 3 miles) to it. Shorter coming back if you come via some of the Chilterns. Stunning views this way. Henley has a train station too so easy to reach via Twyford station. Without a car, Henley is perfect for a short break as there is all you need on your doorstep re amenities and many walks from town into the beautiful Oxfordshire countryside (& the Chilterns).
