Such an interesting house filled with quirky furniture, inspired interior fit out and a truly charming lot of hosts/staff. Delicious & extensive selection at breakfast was beautifully presented in a lovely setting.. Super convenient location for transport into town centre. Restaurants, patisserie etc. close by. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were just as interesting and attractive as their hotel.

FAQs about hotels in Oxford

City of Dreaming Spires

Featuring a magnificent academic heritage, Oxford is a beautiful city where Gothic spires intermingle with medieval colleges. The home to England’s oldest university, most of the 38 unique colleges are sadly only viewable from the outside. Two that you can visit are Magdalen College, considered one of the most beautiful, and Christchurch College whose quadrangle was used in the 1st Harry Potter film. Its cathedral choir also sings evensong.

Other notable colleges are Balliol and Merton, the 2 oldest, while Hertford College has the Bridge of Sighs. Next door is the cavernous Bodleian Library, overlooking the round Radcliffe Camera, the city’s best-known landmark.

The university also has a botanical garden and the best Oxford museums, including the Ashmolean Museum and Natural History Museum, where swifts nest in summer.

Unsurprisingly for a student town, it has lots of bars and restaurants. Oxford shopping is also good and includes England’s oldest covered market, brightly colored High Street shops, and the Clarendon and Westgate shopping centers.

Whether you arrive by road or fly into London Oxford Airport, don’t leave without trying Oxford punting. In contrast to rival Cambridge, you punt here by standing in the front (rather than on the back). Easily accessed from the Oxford accommodations on Booking.com, the routes take in the River Cherwell and the Isis (the name for this part of the Thames).

In 2 days i enjoyed visiting the museums, market and the university grounds. I even attended There is history everywhere, I even did a twilight ghost tour and a guide was very knowledgeable about the history of Oxford as well as the ghosts.

Oxford is easily accessible from London by bus.

Oxford is easily accessible from London by bus. The bus station is a short walk a few blocks away from the hotel, and you can't beat the price or the service. We caught it easily in London (Shepherd's Bush) and were returned there. The ride from London was short ( a little over an hour) and very comfortable. We spent most of our time visiting our favorite spots in Oxford, including the Ashmolean Museum, the Covered Market, seeing a play at the near-by theatre, and listening to concerts at the many colleges near-by.

Oxford has been on my bucket list for a long time and it didn't disappoint. there is so much history attached to it and places to visit. also special mention to the council, as it was very clean and dare I say, felt safe to be walking around. (although there were signs warning of pick pockets) Highly recommend for a short break away, or as part of an overall visit to the UK. Recommend the #Old Bank Hotel to stay.

Having seen the architecture of Oxford on the TV many times...

Having seen the architecture of Oxford on the TV many times over the years, it was great to finally visit for a long weekend. I had the pocket Rough Guide weekender guide book and managed to cram in ten of the walks over four days! Highlights were a baroque concert in the Sheldonian Theatre and the area around the Radcliffe Camera, walks around the colleges and a visit to Magdalen College, with its lovely walk around the water meadow, complete with deer! The walk along the Thames by Port Meadow and back along the canal was great too.

We had never been to Oxford before as a city, but felt we "...

We had never been to Oxford before as a city, but felt we "knew" it from the Morse Universe. It was as we imagined, but more so. Except the traffic management schemes meant that the city centre was a pleasant and lightly trafficked environment instead of how we had seen it on TV. Beautiful walks through the city, along the canal and in the Parks made it a trip to remember. Only criticism: The railway station toilets were the most disgusting and hideous we have seen anywhere. GWR should be ashamed.

We parked our car outside the hotel for free - as far as i can make out, that is a minor miracle in Oxford! Our room was nice and clean and comy and we gained access to the building easily by following the instructions provided. Bathroom was kitted out with a lovely big shower. We used three different places for breakfast, all within a fifteen minute walk, and getting a bus to the city centre involved walking a couple of hundred yards from the hotel and waiting for a few minutes.

The hotel and the room was clean - and the reception staff friendly. There is a small amount of on-site parking available at £15 per night but you can't reserve it. Oxford is not car friendly so, if you can't get into the car park, there is a larger one further into Oxford (same price). Its about a 40 minute walk into the city centre but there are plenty of Ubers around - one came after 20 seconds of us booking it!
