From rolling countryside with bustling market towns and villages, to an award-winning coastline and one of the UK's most interesting historic cities, there is so much to see and do in this county of contrasts. Visit Woodhall Spa and the famous Kinema in the Woods, explore the antiques and collectable shops in Horncastle, or follow the Pilgrim Fathers trail in Boston. At the nearby RAF Coningsby, WWII enthusiasts can enjoy the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight or enjoy watching the 'Just Jane' Lancaster Bomber doing taxi runs at Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre, at East Kirkby. Blue Flag sandy beaches can be found at the traditional seaside resorts of Skegness, Mablethorpe and Chapel St. Leonards. Those interested in nature will enjoy visiting the breeding seal colony at Donna Nook or birdwatching at Gilbraltar Point National Nature Reserve. The RSPB's Frampton Marsh provides close views of the abundant bird-life of The Wash, one of Europe's most special places for wildlife, with avocets, redshanks, skylarks and whimbrels can be seen in summer, with thousands of ducks gathering on the freshwater scrapes in winter. Further inland, a day exploring the nearby Lincolnshire Wolds Area of outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) will dispel the misconception that Lincolnshire is flat - with rolling hills and hidden valleys, gentle chalk streams and nestling villages. Lincoln offers an experience rich history combined with independent boutique shopping, great arts and culture and a wealth of places to eat and drink.
