What Guests Said About Grantham:

I went to Grantham because I had to visit a sick relative, not because I had a particular interest in Grantham. It is not designed to attract tourists. The main street is pleasant enough, there are several bargain supermarkets. The parish church is unique, statues to I. Newton and M. Thatcher. Nearby, the countryside is very pleasant and there are good places of interest to visit, so Grantham is worth using as a base. Driving in the town is horrid.

Grantham interesting town with some history and good shops.

Grantham interesting town with some history and good shops. We ate at Weatherspoons once, Brewers Fayre (just out of town) twice. Other restaurants eg Prezzo available. Town centre very busy traffic wise but ok for walking around. Belton House, Belvoir Castle, canal walk, Lincoln all worth a visit.

There isn't much to do in Grantham itself except the church with a tall spire and a couple of medieval buildings. We saw Margaret Thatcher's modest birthplace ( now a health and beauty therapy shop) and the statues to her and Sir Isaac Newton.

The country side was fantastic and it is awash with interesting places to see, including 2 National Trust buildings. We managed to eat at two great places, the Chequers Inn, near Woolthorpe and a Nepalese restaurant Everest Inn on Westgate Grantham.

A town full of history and charm, with some amazing countryside in the surrounding area, including the historic city of Lincoln, and also Boston, whence the pilgrim fathers set sail for New England, as they called it, during the early years of the 17th century.

We stayed at the Belton Hall Hotel, for four nights.

We stayed at the Belton Hall Hotel, for four nights. The first day we went to Belton House, which is one of the nicest National Trust properties that we've visited. As well as the house, it has extensive grounds, lovely gardens, and a conservatory and historic church to visit. It is good for children, with special activities laid on in summer, and a miniature Railway. It also has one of the largest National Trust bookshops we've seen, as well as the usual shop and café facilities. Grantham itself is a typical market town, with a reasonable range of shops, although like many market towns it has clearly suffered economically. However, the historic area around its magnificent church is lovely. The countryside around Grantham is lovely, and if you like visiting churches (as we do) you are very much spoiled for choice. Sleaford and Heckington were favourites.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We were travelling as a family and the room was big enough for four of us to stay comfortably. The breakfast was great. Lots to do with the children given all the facilities at the hotel.
