Census records indicate that the cottage was originally occupied by a Cornish tin miner and his family, who almost certainly moved to the area to use his skills in the local lead mines. Later that decade the cottage became a little shop, and the resident family were also registered as weavers. Today the cottage has been lovingly and carefully restored to enhance the traditional features of exposed stone walls, and an amazing fireplace with a wood burner set into it.
