Nestled in the beautiful Wye Valley, with stunning views of the hills, the cottage is newly renovated but dates back to 1900 with bags of charm! Enter to a cosy living room with an open fire and dining area. There is a large bathroom with a roll top bath and enclosed shower. At the back is a new bright kitchen with everything that you'll need. Upstairs are 2 good sized bedrooms, one with a king sized bed and the other with 2 singles that can be pushed together on request. Both bedrooms have window seats where you can sit and admire the view across the valley. There is a single sofa bed in the lounge, but the cottage is only set up for 4 people. The property is down a short unmade road set back from the main road. A bubbling brook runs across the front which is a sun trap all year round. There is bench seating for you to relax in the sun. To the side of the house, there are steps up to a terraced garden with fantastic views. The terrace is equiped with a dining area and 2 sun beds. The location is very quiet and ideal for getting away from it all. The only soundtrack is the brook, a distant cockerel or an owl at night. We welcome one well behaved dog.

Having been an Airbnb guest for a number of years it's been my dream to own my own an holiday let. Together with my husband Jem, we have spent 18 months turning a run down property into a idilic retreat. We have 2 adult children and live in Cheltenham.

Lydbrook is a pretty village with 3 pubs, a chippy and a small village shop with a post office, almost opposite Carmel cottage. There are many forest walks which can be taken straight from the cottage or a short drive away. A great way to explore the beauty of the area. The river Wye is less than a mile away. In the summer when the river is low, an island appears in the middle of the river which can be reached by wading through the water. There are some good swimming spots and brick BBQs for public use on the grassy bank. If you have a kayak, SUP or Canoe, there is a launch site on this bit of river. If you don't own your own, there are local companies that you can hire them from. The Forest of Dean is great for cyclists. There are many cycle tracks near by. Both the Forest of Dean cycle centre and Beechenhurst Lodge have trails for all abilities. It can get muddy, so we have a tap and hose at the front of the cottage to clean your bike and kit. There are many other local attractions nearby such as Puzzle Wood, Symonds Yat, Goodrich Castle and Clearwell Caves to name a few!
