The Flitch Way Country Trail (No 16 National Bike Route) can be joined from the village Little Dunmow is an small village with medieval history mentioned in the Domesday Book. It is where the saying ' bringing home the bacon' comes from, as the tradition of giving a flitch of Bacon to those that do not regret being married for a year was started by the priory in the village. It is now upheld as 4 yearly event held at Great Dunmow Town nearby and attracts visitors far and wide.
