I bought this property in August 2023 and carried on running it as a bed and breakfast until December 2023 when we closed down for major renovations and reopened in March 2024. This year we have sown the garden with wild flower seeds, maybe they will be in flower when you arrive.

Property info

Crannach House was built during the 1860's, originally a toll house, it is granite built and set back from the A93 Aberdeen to Braemar road, Bed and Breakfast guests are hosted here. Crannach house has recently been renovated in March 2024 . There are three rooms at the moment , one double/ family room, one twin and one king size all ensuite on the first floor. The adjoining cafe which is undergoing renovations at the moment and apartment were added during the 1980's, the apartment is on the first floor and also renovated in March 2024 with one flight of stairs leading to it. The B&B rooms have tea and coffee making facilities.

Neighborhood info

There is a woodland directly behind the property with marked trails, you can walk up high for views of the mountains. On the opposite side of the road (A93) is the old Deeside railway line, now a footpath, you can walk into Ballater village in around 40 minutes. The village has several good quality restaurants and cafe's and home to the Royal Station, Queen Victoria arrived at, on her way to Balmoral. We are 10 minutes drive to Balmoral Castle and 20 minutes drive from Braemar, Braemar castle, situated just before the village is well worth a visit. We are equal distances between Glenshee and The Lecht ski areas, both around 40 minutes drive. The Cairngorms area, often passed by with folk heading to the west coast, is beautiful and often less busy than other tourist areas. Ballater has two bicycle hire businesses.
