This 200 year old former cottar's home and smithy is a little gem for two guests. It is only 5 miles from Portree and is ideally located for touring Skye and accessing the varied walks on this magical island. Refurbished to a high standard the small 4 roomed single storey cottage is full of character with fantastic panoramic views over the River Snizort towards the soft side of The Storr, Ben Tianavaig and, further away, the Black Cuillins. Within a pretty fenced garden surrounded by common grazing land, your stay can be quite special here.
We have been welcoming guests to Crepigill Cottage since 2010. As retired ecologist and geologist and keen walkers we have loved Skye for several decades and learned much about its natural history, geology and landscape.
Crepigill is a small township of just four crofts and a handful of houses with wonderful views across the River Snizort to the Trotternish Ridge, Ben Tianavaig and the Black Cuillins. A short 5 minute walk takes you to the historic St Columba's Isle, the Clach Ard Pictish stone and the Skeabost House Hotel with its own golf course. Guests like the character and comfort of this old cottage, the views and the convenience of being able to get to all parts of the island as well as Portree which is less than 5 miles away. It's a wonderful way to experience the true Skye.
