Cross Farm Retreat is a family run business established by myself (Kirsty), my family, boyfriend Chris and Milo the dog. After spending decades in the city, I was drawn to a slower pace of life in the countryside surrounded by nature. That along with my love of hosting and events brought me to Todmorden, West Yorkshire and Cross Farm Retreat was born.
Cross Farm Retreat is the perfect place to come and explore the stunning Calder Valley and Pennine Hills, right from the doorstep. The Pennine Way is steeped in history, the iconic trail stretches for 268 miles (431 km) The route includes Derbyshire Peak District, Yorkshire Dales, Swaledale Valley, North Pennines, Hadrian’s Wall, Cheviot Hills, ending in the Scottish Borders in Kirk Yetholm. The best months to walk the Pennine Way are from mid May to September and you can access the Pennine Way from Cross Farm. Walk, hike or run to Hebden Bridge and beyond. More information can be found on the National Trail website The Pennine Bridleway is a 205 mile (330 km) long National Trail running through the Pennine hills from Derbyshire to Cumbria. It has been designed for horse riders and is also a perfect trail for runners, mountain bikers and walkers. The best time to complete the Trail is April to October, when the weather is most favourable. More information cane be found on the National Trails website National Cycle Route 66, this signed cycle route runs for 136 miles from Manchester to the Yorkshire coast. Todmorden to Hebden Bridge is a beautiful section of the route with wonderful views of Calderdale and the Pennine Hills. The Rochdale Canal can be easily accessed from Cross Farm. Stoodley Pike - Hike, walk or run up to the Stoodley Pike from Cross Farm. From the top there are far reaching views of the beautiful Calderdale Valley. The 121 foot (37 m) high Stoodley Pike Monument dominates the skyline above Todmorden, sitting atop a 1,300-foot (400 m) hill. The monument was designed in 1854 by local architect James Green. More information can be found on Visit Calderdale Gaddings Dam - Hike, walk or run to Gaddings Gam, where you can wild swim. If it’s a sunny day you can sit on the small beach and enjoy the sunshine. Gaddings Dam is not reachable by car which adds to it’s beauty.
