A beautiful house and garden( where I had a delicious breakfast). A large room and spacious bathroom with a bath. The friendly host gave good advice for the evening, and made me feel relaxed and at home. I could even bring my bicycle inside.

The location of Flemish house is close to the town centre and easily accessable using public buses. The train staion is a 10 minute walk. The room at Flemish house was very spacious and well laid out with plenty of space for my dogs' bed and all...

Step into history at Flemish House, a 400 year old Merchant’s home that is as charming as it is unique. Nestled in a street lined with historic buildings, alongside the River Waveney, our house is a little landmark in itself - often paused at by passers by for photos and discussions! Once part of a thriving riverside trade it sits yards from scenic walks, independent shops, restaurants and pubs. Inside the house is full of character with its quirky, rambling layout offering plenty of privacy. Guests often say it’s like a Tardis, much more spacious than it appears from outside. Please note that both bedrooms and bathrooms are first floor, with a small flight of stairs up, so not suitable for those with limited mobility. The two attic rooms available with the Front Room only are on the second floor, so suitable for younger people (7-50) who are able to climb the attic style stairs. Be advised: this is a very old town and our old narrow street and most of its dwellings do not have their own parking space, including ours. There are plenty of places to park very close by and we are happy to share information when requested. You can also unload safely at the rear of our house, before moving your car to an official place. Come and experience a truly special stay in a house full of history, charm and colour.
Matthew and I have been welcoming guests to our home from all over the world for nearly 10 years now; we love to create a home-from-home warm welcoming place for guests to be truly relaxed and comfortable. We have so many return visitors and plenty have become friends, testament to the experience we provide. We have 2 small/medium sized rescue dogs who readily welcome other dogs and their humans (sometimes a little noisily but they settle down soon enough!).
Beccles is a small market town with loads to offer especially if you like water! Experience the outdoor heated Lido, and the river for kayaking, SUP, day boats, ferry trips, fishing or swimming - or just walking along it and spotting otters and kingfishers. A couple of minutes walk gives you access to one of the best authentic pizza restaurants in Suffolk, ancient pubs, and independent shops. The town is known as the Gateway to the Broads and borders Norfolk and it’s great to explore by bike, bus or car nearby beaches, the beautiful city of Norwich and Oulton Broad, just a few of the local attractions! The bustling seaside town of Southwold is nearby, and if Festivals are your thing Latitude and FolkEast are on the doorstep. So much to explore, history to discover and places to relax and watch the river run by. Be advised: this is a very old town and our old narrow street and most of its dwellings do not have their own parking space, including ours. There are plenty of places to park very close by and we are happy to share information when requested. You can also unload safely at the rear of our house, before moving your car to an official place.
