Husband and wife team - nature loving Steve and historian Beth - will combine to make your stay at The Gordon completely unforgettable. We work hard to create a relaxed and welcoming experience for guests and have filled the house full of little touches to make your stay just that little bit extra special. With Steve's long background as a sustainability professional you can be sure that your stay here in Ballater will have the lowest possible impact on the local environment. If you are looking to trace your family tree be sure to ask Beth for help as she has assisted many guests either begin or progress their Scottish ancestral history.

Property info

Beautiful 1868 Victorian town house right in the heart of Ballater, Royal Deeside. Every room has stunning views to either Lochnagar (the local Munro) or Craigendarroch hill and most look towards the old Royal railway station too. Our house was for many years the bank manager's residence above the North of Scotland Bank. Wide ornate staircases, tasteful period decoration and large rooms are throughout. Enjoy breakfast in our corner dining room watching Ballater life and try to spot some Royals, just as others have done for over 150 years!

Neighborhood info

Ballater is a stunning large village on the eastern side of the Cairngorms National Park. We are surrounded by hills and mountains, many tree covered whose colours change as the seasons progress. The village is well served for amenities with several excellent restaurants, coffee shops and pubs you won't be short of places to eat and relax (though pre-booking is recommended). Walking, climbing, road and off-road biking are all on the doorstep and Steve and Beth are full of lots of tips on how to get the best out of your visit to Royal Deeside no matter how long or short your stay might be.
