Take a walk up the well known Roseberry Topping soaking up the panoramic views of the heather covered moors, rambling dales and coast as you climb. Better still, continue a walk round to Captain Cook's Monument in memory of the famous explorer who grew up nearby. A drive up Clay Bank onto the The North York Moors, leads you to the sought-after market town of Helmsley hosting a wide variety of shops, good places to eat and delicatessen. 17 miles towards the coast, blow the cobwebs away and head to the traditional village of Saltburn by the Sea boasting the last remaining pier in Yorkshire and Victorian cliff tramway Carry along the coast road to the quaint fishing village of Staithes or the famous seaside town of Whitby and climb the 199 steps up to the impressive gothic ruins of Whitby Abbey or relax take a boat trip to enjoy the stunning Yorkshire Coastline and finish the day with fish and chips overlooking the harbour.
