I was staying alone to break up a long drive south and this was such a nice surprise. Really gorgeous room with so many nice touches and incredibly comfortable. So much character too. The breakfast was also great and all the staff really friendly. A really cool place to stay. Also, even though it’s a pub with rooms it didn’t feel like that. Everything was hotel quality, spotlessly clean and a lot of effort has gone into the rooms so they feel really special.

Everything was excellent, fitted us in at last minute for dinner. An excellent relaxed atmosphere. A wee bonus fresh milk in a tiny fridge for our coffee and tea in the room. Second stay on my way back from down south and will be my stopping off point for future trips to south of England. Recommend the Inn to anyone.

The staff was super friendly and accommodating. When we asked about laundry services at the hotel or nearby, they offered to do some for us although it was not a regular offering. Wonderful people. The breakfast is great, and the restaurant very good too (and popular, so book ahead if you’re there at a busy time).

Special shout out to Leanne at the bar for making our night extra special and memorable on the day of our engagement! We thought the location was brilliant, parking was easier than anticipated, check in was quick and we had everything we needed in the room. The breakfast was gorgeous and amazing with friendly staff and we also had an evening meal there at the Vault to which the food definitely shows why they are rated one of the top restaurants in Whitby.

Andy, Debbie, Lauren, and Paula were extremely welcoming. I had flown from Florida to Manchester and had driven all day in bad fog with jet leg. What a beautiful destination the Penny Hedge was. Excellent range of well-kept beers, great evening menu, excellent full English breakfast, clean rooms - slept 10 hours. What a positive asset to Whitby. I would stay here every time !!

Scarborough is an amazing traditional English seaside resort...

Scarborough is an amazing traditional English seaside resort and has 2 Bays, the South Bay is where all the main attractions are including the Pier, funiculars, fishing and tour boats, restaurants, fish and chips, both Whippy and Gelato ice creams and also the largest outdoor events arena in whole of Europe. North Bay is more residential/hotels and also a quiet zone (no loud music or parties in North Bay) The cleanliness of the area is very good and guessing that littering in Scarborough is zero tolerance (including chewing gum, cigarette ends and spitting) Also no cycling or scooters through pedestrianised areas as 25% of Scarboroughs resident population is over 65 South Bay is slightly more lenient for parties/noise levels than North Bay All in all, I'd definitely return to Scarborough again in the future

Whitby is a lovely place.

Whitby is a lovely place. We were lucky to be there for the regatta which was well organised and had the place buzzing. A little disappointed that most places closed at 10pm because the weather was lovely and enjoyed sitting outside on the harbour. Plenty of places to eat and plenty of walks.

I was bit disappointed.

I was bit disappointed. Harrogate was a place I always wanted to visit for it vibe and Bettys Tea Rooms. However even though Bettys was brilliant, wonderful service and food there was little else to do there. The cost of the victorian baths was ridiculous to say the least. Nothing really to do at nighttime. even the staff working in bars there were saying how the town has turned into more of a retirement destination. Lots of closed down shops as well. such a pity

Skipton is a busy market town, with a reasonable range of shops and some lovely places to eat and drink. We walked from Gargrave to Skipton along the canal which was a beautiful walk and a lovely way to enter the town. By car it can be a bit congested in peak season.

Knaresborough is a lovely place to wander around and explore. It's a quaint market town full of history, beautiful buildings, and plenty of places to eat. We had lunch at The Carriages, which we'd definitely recommend, and the little antiques shop in the train station is well worth a browse. If the weather's nice, an ice cream by the river is a must. If you're visiting during the summer, be prepared for it to be busy. Parking can be a challenge, so it's worth arriving early to secure a space. The rowing boats on the river are also very popular, particularly in the afternoon, so if you'd like to hire one, it's best to do that earlier in the day before the river gets crowded. The riverside and viaduct are particularly picturesque and are definitely worth taking the time to explore.
