Totally fantastic - I WILL be back! The Golden Lion exceeded my expectations - my room was gorgeous and the staff was terrific! Also, the location was 100% central, AND the pub/restaurant was like a meeting hub for the town - so there was plenty of action but not a lot of noise, and NO NOISE in my room - it was totally quiet!

I had booked a room in a dorm, but ended up with the whole dorm to myself which was fabulous. I could park outside the door and the kitchen was 2 doors down. It was right next to a pub (I didn't visit it, but useful to know).

The accommodation was spotless, and so well equipped. It had everything we needed to have a breakfast in the morning, before our walk to Malham. Andy was an outstanding host. Made sure we were settled in to the accommodation, and the welcome hamper was much appreciated! Furniture, and beds were luxurious. The sofa in the living room was a slice of heaven after our 20 mile day walking. Would deffo return. Genuinely cannot fault. Thank you for having us.

Settle is a pretty little market town with good access to some amazing hills, scenery and hiking. There is a good selection of pubs, and a great chippy. Travelling here by train was fine, and the station is close to the centre. It is on the iconic and historic Settle to Carlisle line for easy non-car outings.

A beautiful village in stunning countryside.

A beautiful village in stunning countryside. Lots of great cafes, bars and restaurants. I love the Yorkshire stone architecture. Interesting shops and a lovely picnic garden at the Victoria Hall that serves drinks and snacks.

Settle was a delightful town to explore, and the cottage was just a short drive away. A great base for walking either locally or the Three Peaks, and we thoroughly enjoyed the Settle to Carlisle railway journey (going as far as Appleby return)

I didn't get much chance to 'discover' or explore Settle.

I didn't get much chance to 'discover' or explore Settle. I heard 'Mouseman' carvings are in the local church, but hadn't time to go & look after unpacking my clothes, etc. The local Social Club was good, & they didn't mind that I was a stranger to Settle, & let me use their Snooker Table, which I thought was very good of them, considering I wasn't a member. One of the locals I met after leaving my room told me about The Social Club. I think I'll enjoy my next trip on 24th of July much better. If my train isn't cancelled this time, I'll have more time to explore Settle. I also liked the railway station at Settle. It has a small selection of books for sale, which suited me fine. I bought one to take home at a very reasonable price. Thanks Settle, & I look forward to hearing the wonderful Katie Spencer singing & playing in July. Yours in Music, Jeff Coulter. (p.s. I didn't take my camera with me, but I intend to take it in July).

I used this place because of it's location for the Yorkshire...

I used this place because of it's location for the Yorkshire 3 Peaks challenge. It was an excellent place to start the woals for the single paeks if Pen y Ghent , Whernside and Ingleborugh. A short walk to the Ribblehead Viaduct.

I know Settle as it's only half an hour away from where I...

I know Settle as it's only half an hour away from where I live. We were only there for a night as went to a gig at Victoria Hall (great, friendly, intimate venue run by volunteers) A lovely part of North Yorks with very friendly locals, great shops an walks nearby (Malham Cove, Janet's Foss etc) Well worth a visit.

Property was well maintained and cosy just as we like, log fire was put on during the afternoon and a few locals frequented the bar. Breakfast was included and there were a nice choice if you didn’t go for the full English. After going out on the many walks around the area and a walk around Settle, we came back and chose to eat our evening meal at the hotel and again not disappointed by the menu and the quality of the food (really nice). Room had plenty of space and en-suite, bed comfy, we enjoyed our stay.

We had a lovely night away in this beautiful hotel, which is very rustic and traditional in appearance. Comfy bed, nice interiors, helpful staff. Breakfast was very nice. Very good location for the dales and Settle- lots of nice walking trails, and hikes with lovely views. Good value for money. Would stay again. Booked the double room, but would probably opt for a suite next time.

The house is immaculate, beautifully decorated and maintained throughout. Hosts Richard and Trish are always so pleasant and helpful, with recommendations and plenty of local knowledge. The breakfast is always 10/10, delicious fresh ingredients which will keep you full all day. Area is beautiful, with perfect location for Settle and Malham.

The apartment was clean and comfortable, the bed particularly so. The bathroom clean and modern. The sitting area very tasteful and everything you would need is there. The kitchen well equipped and easy to use. We liked the position in Settle, close to the centre of everything, very accessible.
