Loved the close proximity to the Castle. Very easy walking distance. This is a very old building (i.e. 1600’s). There was a lovely little garden in the back and plenty of space to park. The owner is a very knowledgeable and helpful local who gave us dining suggestions and helped us figure out where everything was.

Beautiful room including a lovely sitting area for coffee and an excellent freshly prepared breakfast. Mark and Nicky were welcoming and a delight to chat with. We will definitely return and recommend to our friends. A must stay when in Richmond.

We loved everything about the cottage, it was very well equipped and the decor was right up our street - it was like a home from home. The location was so peaceful (great views to wake up to) and we even got lucky with a Northern Lights experience (see photos).

The Tavern was located perfectly in the square and had a great atmosphere and busying pub with excellent beer. The room was fine and a very comfortable bed and ensuite bathroom. Jon and his staff were delightful and very helpful at all times.

Easby Abbey and the Easby Loop is lovely.

Easby Abbey and the Easby Loop is lovely. Richmond is good to stroll around. The Station is a good place for food as is The Kings Head Hotel and Granny'sCafe. The Black Lion should be avoided at all costs both for food and to stay in.

Pretty market town with a good choice of local shops and restaurants. Some pretty walks along the riverside and some wonderful views. The station is worth a visit with more interesting local craft wares and eateries, just a short walk from town. Some steep steps and hilly areas around town, so make sure you have some sensible footwear!

Richmond is a good centre for people who like getting out for walks in the surrounding areas. There are some good restaurants and a decent variety of shops. The town is a bit hilly in places but on the whole it is easy to get around.

I grew up and went to school in Richmond so my views are perhaps biased. I love visiting as it’s so familiar. Never get bored of the market place, the river and the endless walks you can do from the doorstep. The station cafe or Amorro Lounge are great for larger groups for coffee/tea and good outdoor seating at the back of Amorro. The Italian restaurant on Dundas Street also hosts large groups with friendly staff and is very reasonable. Richmond is quite hilly so if you’re walking be prepared for the hills. There are flatter walks along by the river or along to Easby which are just as beautiful. Lidl is very central (you get up to 2 hours free parking there). A drive towards Reeth and beyond shows Swaledale at its finest and definitely worth a visit. Busses run up there. I would recommend anyone go to Richmond!
