Kirkby Stephen, a historic market town, is located in the upper Eden Valley between the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks, at the foot of the Howgill Fells. Visit the gothic gorge where the River Eden flows through woodland Stenkrith park, or take advantage of one of the numerous surrounding good walking and cycling paths, such as the route of the ancient Darlington to Tebay train line over two wonderful viaducts. Howgill Fells and nearby Pendragon Castle and Brough Castle are fantastic destinations.
