The bathroom was large for a shepherds hut. The gluten free breakfast provided was amazing especially as we'd only requested it the day before our stay. There was plenty of parking. Also had great wi-fi.

We really appreciated all the extra goodies in the kitchen. Eggs, bread, butter, jam, fruit, cereal milk. Coffee and tea. Very kind of you. The house had everything we needed. We liked checking in and out with Alexa.

Kirkby Stephen has lots to offer, lovely short walks near the river or more challenging ones - the Nine Standards for example. Some great local shops, bars, pubs & cafes. You must try The Taggy Man for their range of delicious pies !! Plenty of free parking and open spaces just on the outskirts. We only stayed for one night at The Taggy Bell Apartment, above the Taggy Man pub, but will be back for longer !!

An interesting small town on the River Eton with plenty to see and experience. I would recommend the Stainmore Railway at Kirkby Stephen East Station. We stayed at the Black Bull in Nateby, which I would recommend.

There is much to Kirkby Stephen itself to commend, including an excellent tourist information office, but also travelling in any direction from there will take you to yet more of the finest scenery this country of ours has to offer. A great base for walking/fellwalking and visiting historical sites, including lots of railway history in the area, centred on the former Kirkby Stephen East railway station on the old Stainmore Line, now the home of the Stainmore Company preservation society, which is well worth a visit. Many excellent footpaths in the area are over former railway trackbeds and viaducts. A mile out of town is Kirkby Stephen West station on the magnificent Settle-Carlisle Line, which can be used in so many different ways in planning days out. And, a warm welcome awaits you in La'l Nook, the best bar in town, from Dave and Wendy, landlord and landlady. It is not for nothing that I refer to this part of the world as my spiritual home, even though I live in a lovely part of Cornwall, with good access to moors and coast path. I always find it a terrible wrench to drag myself away from Kirkby Stephen and its wider surrounds. Enjoy!

Kirby Stephen had an interesting history and sat in lovely countryside with good walks. The people were very friendly and helpful in every shop we went into, always willing to help. The White Hare Cafe had a friendly atmosphere and lovely reasonably priced food. Good fish and chips from the Archway Fish and chip shop. Good pubs.

Lovely little village with a charming array of small shops, gift shops, cafes and pubs and free parking. We also visited the Kirkby Stephen East railway station which runs steam and diesel trains regularly during the summer months and is run entirely with volunteers who couldn’t have been more helpful - an ideal place to visit for any railway enthusiasts. There is also a gift shop and ‘buffet car’. We tried ‘The White Hare’ cafe which is on the Main Street in the village and is dog friendly. Staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and the menu was well priced with a good and varied selection. We both had hot drinks and a Ploughman’s lunch (4 different variations to choose from) for £7.50 and they were lovely. The dog was given treats too. Would definitely pay another visit.

We loved the quaint 'traditional' feel to the hotel. It was everything we wanted from a 'room and the inn'. The staff were very welcoming. We will for sure book there again.
