The house is near the idyllic village and beaches of Instow and Westward Ho! It is close to Exmoor and is ideally set between the towns of Bideford and Barnstaple. Days can be spent exploring the Tarka Trail, (the longest, continuous off-road cycle path in the UK), surfing or relaxing on the beaches - Westward Ho! (6 miles) or Saunton (12 miles) and Croyde (14 miles). Instow has several good restaurants; pubs, cafes, a deli and a shop and is all within a mile and a half of the property.
I grew up in Devon, left, but have recently returned to north Devon with my husband, who was born here. We have 4 children who all enjoy the outdoors especially the sea. We do lots of walking, with our Cocker Spaniel, running and cycling as well as swimming and body boarding,especially in the summer. We often return to Dorset, where our children grew up, and enjoy letting our home out to Airbnb so that others can enjoy the stunning area. I can be contacted on my mobile phone or by email or through Airbnb. For local assistance or queries there is help nearby.
There are some fantastic beaches nearby for surfing, bodyboarding, coasteering and swimming. Westward Ho! Croyde, Saunton Sands are all within easy reach and suitable for beginners and those with more experience. The idyllic village of Instow is within walking/ cycling distance where there are lots of opportunities for family fun on the beach, dog walking as well as several great pubs, an excellent deli/ cafe and shop. Also locally can be found family day's out at The Milky Way, The Big Sheep and the Wake Park. Slightly further afield are scenic walks around Baggy Point, (near Woolacombe) and Hartland Point. A day trip to Lundy Island is another treat to enjoy. Visit the historic town of Bideford and Barnstaple where there are a selection of shops, cafes and restaurants. Visit the quaint village of Appledore by catching a small passenger ferry across the estuary from Instow.
