What Guests Said About Barnstaple:

Its a quiet place, with some pubs, bars and restaurants.

Its a quiet place, with some pubs, bars and restaurants. Quirky shops and the general shopping as in most places. Walking along the River Taw is pleasant, with some nice parks. If you are looking for hustle and bustle this isn't it. If you are looking to unwind and take a few slow and quiet days then this would be a good place to stay and exlpore. There are enough natural places to visit near by and the coast and beaches are about 30 minutes drive. Highly recommend LUSH restaurant in Barnstaple a really good 9/10 great food, nice cocktails. Right down the other end of town is a clean and tidy cafe called Barnsaple Coffee shop, huge doorstep sandwiches and the food smell great, staff helpful and friendly. Good choice and not too crowded.

Barnstaple is a great town which has lots of shops to walk around, i would recommend a trip up to lynton and lynmouth which are pretty little villages with an amazing little cliff railway, well worth a look, i found the Blue Ball Inn to have an great cooked breakfast but be aware it's a bit of a slog up to it but well worth it. Ilfracombe is a good town to visit but park down on the quay for the best fish and chips. Don't forget to give Combe Martin wildlife park and Exmoor zoo a go too.

The town centre is a bit run down. with several empty shops. Our property was in Shirwell, just a few miles out of town. As a base for exploring North Devon it was ideal. We drove to Woolacombe and Croyde Bay on the west coast one day and up to Lynton and Lynmouth on the north coast the next day.

Its an excellent base for visiting local towns but short on good restaurants or quality food establishments. Normal or rough take away establishments available but had to resort to M & S for good quality healthy food.

Barnstaple is a great town with a wonderful Museum, Library, Leisure centre with swimming pool and an easy-to-reach High Street. We ate at GANGES, An excellent and inexpensive Indian restaurant in Newport Road. The walks in Rock Park and alongside the River Taw are lovely. 25 minutes away are fantastic beaches, especially Saunton Sands.

Barnstaple is an old town, very friendly independent coffee shops. Plenty of charity shops on offer, lovely town. We went to Nellies cafe, freshly prepared food, dog friendly and a few toys on offer for a toddler. Sit inside or out

The hosts were so lovely and welcoming. They let us in the room way before 3pm and we just chilled and had a pint whilst they cleaned it. Great value for money. We ordered the breakfast and they also let my father in law come for the very cheap breakfast (cooked beautifully and again, great value for money) so that saved him a fortune as his hotel breakfast was very pricey. Wonderful fun pub to enjoy and felt well at home. Thanks for a fantastic trip to Barnstaple! Photo of the nearby Valley of the Rocks - well worth a walk there.

From reception to room. The whole experience was relaxed and comfortable. So many hotel rooms are cold and sterile. The Cedars is very clean and so comfortable. I could definitely relax and was so comfortable. I easily recommend over all the usual places like Travelodge, Premier Inn etc.. 100% better value. It was a real treat. Thank you to all the staff.
