The Studio at Holly Cottage. We are thrilled to open again our B&B after three years rebuilding our home, (extensive flooding) The Studio is in a secluded garden, backing onto farmland. With three sitting areas to follow the sun. The Studio has a very large living area with oak floors and vaulted ceiling. A flatscreen TV and Bose system. Also a desk for those working and Wi-Fi A dining area and separate kitchen, including undercounter fridge, espresso coffee maker, kettle and toaster along with a Microwave. (There is available a BBQ and Kadai at a small extra cost to cover charcoal and logs)The bedroom in the eaves, oak floors and White company bed linen. The Three Horseshoes, a free house is just a short stroll across the road serving real ale from local breweries. Not too far away there is The Wharf Tavern by the side of the Canal offering good food. The Red House 20 mins away from us is one of our favourites serves breakfast Sat/Sundays. Newport only 5 miles has three supermarkets. There is so much to see and do just a short distance away. Fishing, horse riding, canal barge hire and golf. Aswell as country walks. Iron Bridge a World Heritage Site is well worth a visit. For gardeners Bridgemere Nursery’s has everything for the garden lover and more. Golf is well covered with golf courses within a short distance. Lilleshall, Merepark, Market Drayton and Wrekin. You could also just sit in the garden with a nice bottle of wine 'If sun shining that is'.
Have lived in Sambrook for many years almost lost count! We had a major flood three years ago and have just finished rebuilding our home ‘including The Studio. So we are thrilled to have The Studio open once again and to welcoming guests both old and new. Tony and I love travelling, we worked for many months in China and traveled to New Zealand and Australia and Thailand. Obviously with the pandemic and the rebuilding of our home it has not been easy to travel. Hopefully now we can look forward to a few breaks. I enjoy painting furniture even before it became fashionable, many years ago. Started in the kitchen with a junk shop find. Sold it when friends came to dinner, and it went from there. Forty years on still doing it. (Having painted most of the house over the last three years, have gone off it a bit 😊) I love interiors and fabrics, aswell as junk shops. Always changing the colours of the walls! Tony is learning to play the guitar and his latest purchase is an amplifier! But the peace will not be broken! We both enjoy gardening and cooking and we look forward to the summer when we can be outside in the sun with the BBQ and family and friends.
The village of Sambrook is small but not too far from anything. Local Pub across the road from 'The Studio' This a farming area. Newport is five miles away with supermarkets and most things you may need. Even a library and swimming pool. Lots of walks, there is a small walk round the lane, about a mile. Which is in the village itself. The Wrekin is a tough walk/climb. Certainly one to get the heart beat going. Canal walks nearby. Hawkstone follies. Merepark Garden centre and more!
