Kintyre Caravan is a warm, cosy and welcoming self-catering static caravan in the peaceful rural community of Gedintailor, Braes, on the beautiful Isle of Skye.
Set within the garden grounds of our family home, the caravan has stunning sea and mountain views and provides a comfortable little home-from-home from which to explore the island.
Inside you'll find free Wi-Fi, TV, fresh bed linen and towels, dressing gowns, toiletries, a hairdryer, iron and ironing board, and constant hot and cold water. The fully equipped kitchen includes a fridge, microwave, oven, grill, kettle, toaster, crockery, utensils and everything you need to prepare your own meals. Free on-site parking is also provided.
We love adding a few homely touches! On arrival you'll find a welcome selection including milk, butter, jams and marmalades, homemade bread, fresh eggs from our own chickens, tea, coffee, biscuits and chocolate. Fresh duck eggs may also be available when our ducks are laying.
Eggs are usually plentiful, so if you'd like more during your stay, just ask! If you fancy the full little farm experience, you're also welcome to collect fresh eggs from the chickens or ducks yourself — let us know and we'll show you where to go.
Kintyre isn't a luxury hotel, nor do we pretend to be. What we offer is a clean, comfortable and cosy little retreat with incredible views, thoughtful touches and a genuine taste of life on Skye. ❤️
Hello! We're Lauren, Jamie and our two young boys. 👋
We moved to the Isle of Skye as a family in August 2023 to start a new life here. We absolutely love living on this incredible island and genuinely believe it was one of the best decisions we ever made. We hope you'll fall in love with Skye too!
Kintyre Caravan sits adjacent to our family home, so we're close by if you need anything while still respecting your space and privacy. One of us will usually be around when you arrive, and whenever possible we'll personally welcome you, give you the keys and answer any questions. If we're not home, we'll arrange a safe place for your key.
Our family also includes Leo, our Border Collie, plus our chickens and ducks! 🐾🐓🦆 Guests are very welcome to meet and feed the animals if they wish — just ask and we'll show you what they can have.
Leo particularly loves having sticks and balls thrown for him, so don't be surprised if he appears hoping for a game! As Leo enjoys being outside in our garden, if you don't like dogs or aren't comfortable having one around, Kintyre may not be the right accommodation for you.
You may see our boys playing, hear the occasional cluck or quack, or have Leo asking you to throw his ball — it's all part of staying with our little family.
We can't wait to welcome you!
Lauren, Jamie and the boys x
About the neighbourhood
Kintyre Caravan is situated in beautiful Gedintailor, Braes, on the east coast of Skye. Our little corner of the island is peaceful and rural, surrounded by sea, mountains, countryside and wildlife, yet only around 6 miles (12–15 minutes by car) from Portree.
Beautiful Braes Beach is within walking distance. It's a sheltered sandy beach that's often wonderfully quiet — some days it can feel like having your own private beach! Beside it you'll also find a lovely pebble beach, perfect for exploring the shoreline.
You can walk right out towards the end of the peninsula, which is a fantastic spot for whale watching. Keep your eyes on the water along the way, as seals, dolphins and other marine wildlife may also make an appearance. 🐋🐬
The sheltered bay is beautiful, and at times sailing boats come in to shelter overnight, making for a particularly lovely evening view.
Wildlife and animals are a big part of life here. Don't be surprised to see sheep wandering up and down the road, and remember to look to the skies, where birds of prey can often be spotted soaring overhead. 🐑🦅
If you're lucky, you may also experience the incredible sight of fighter jets flying low through the surrounding mountains during training exercises.
There are lovely local walks, including An Aird and Coille Iosal, with native woodland, a waterfall and beautiful views across the Sound of Raasay.
The Isle of Raasay can be seen from the area, with its ferry regularly crossing the water. Raasay also makes a fantastic day trip from nearby Sconser.
We're also well placed for exploring Skye's famous attractions, including the Old Man of Storr, Quiraing, Fairy Glen and Fairy Pools.
After a day exploring, return to the peace and beauty of Braes. ❤️
