Breage is a lovely, traditional Cornish village with a peaceful, rural feel – ideal if you enjoy slowing the pace between bigger days out. It’s a great base for exploring this part of Cornwall, with a classic village atmosphere and easy access to coast, countryside and some of the county’s best-loved attractions. For food lovers, nearby Porthleven is a must. It’s widely celebrated for its dining scene and hosts a popular food festival each spring. Chef Jude Kereama’s restaurants – Kota and Kota Kai – are highlights, serving beautifully done dishes with Asian-inspired flavours. Beach days are easy to weave into your stay. Praa Sands is a family favourite, with a huge sweep of golden sand that’s perfect for swimming, paddling and sandcastle-building. Along the same coastline you’ll find more sandy options too – Marazion Beach is especially scenic, with wonderful views across the bay to St Michael’s Mount. Dog owners can head to Prussia Cove, which is dog-friendly year-round. St Michael’s Mount is another standout nearby. This iconic island is home to a historic castle and gardens, and at low tide you can walk across the causeway to explore. If the tide is in, ferries run to and from the mainland, and there are cafés on site for a bite to eat. When it’s time to refuel close to the sand, The Welloe at Praa Sands is a great option for laid-back beachside food and drinks. If you fancy a bigger day out, you could spend time browsing in St Ives, visit the seals at the Cornish Seal Sanctuary in Gweek, catch a performance at the spectacular Minack Theatre, explore the historic Godolphin Estate, or even plan a day trip to the Isles of Scilly by ferry or helicopter.
