Todmorden is also famous for its pioneering Incredible Edible community gardening movement, Victorian Town Hall, strong industrial heritage (textiles), vibrant arts/music scene, unique independent shops, and a history of unusual events like UFO sightings, making it a quirky, resilient market town known for community spirit and outdoor activities. It also has the highest beach in England at Gaddings Dam. The imposing Stoodley Pike monument is Grade II listed and dominates the skyline above Todmorden, sitting atop Stoodley Pike, a 400m hill.
