The space Little Larks Barn is spacious and cosy with a double-height ceiling and beams, a wood burner, an open-plan kitchen, dining, and living area. The master guestroom is private and situated at the rear of the barn and has patio doors onto the garden. It has a lovely en-suite shower room. The upstairs mezzanine floor has a day bed (large enough for an adult). A travel cot and high chair can be added on request. Larks is a 500 year old oak framed house located along a quiet country lane yet within 20 minutes to Chelmsford, 10 minutes to Braintree, and 25 minutes to Bishops Stortford with mainline stations to London Liverpool Street around 35 minutes. 15 minutes to Stansted Airport. So ideal for a countryside break only one hour away from London. The Flitch Way, a 15-mile country park trail, passes Felsted on land that used to be the Bishop’s Stortford to Braintree railway line. The trail takes its name from the Flitch trials in nearby Dunmow, during which couples compete to prove they have not argued for a year and are therefore worthy of the prize, a side of bacon. One of the best stretches for birds, butterflies and wildflowers links Felsted and Rayne. Felsted’s two pubs, the Swan Inn and the Chequers are ideal pitstops for refreshments for those walking the route. Also Felsted has 2 coffee shops (one chef was the head patisserie at the Lanesborough Hotel in London).
