Hello, we are Louise and Damian Orton. We are loving being the owners and managers at Kernock Cottages, in south east Cornwall. Our successful careers have been focused on delivering service to others, solving problems with innovation, and doing our best for our ‘customers’. Running Kernock gives us this same fulfilment and joy, and our outlook is simple – let’s give our guests the best possible holiday experience. We are Cornwall's Dog Friendly Business of the Year 20 25/26 and runners up in the Regenerative Tourism Category 2025/26. We have an excellent team who assist us, and their emotional buy-in to our customer service is unquestionable. We have 3 grown children who love to help when they can. There’s also our cockapoo Jaffa – who features regularly in our publicity. The beauty of Kernock is that you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere, but everything is within easy reach (we even have a Waitrose 4 miles away!). All within less than 10 miles are the beach, the moors, and Plymouth. There is lots to do locally too, or just stay at home and watch the buzzards soar over the valley from your hot tub! If you are a couple that likes a lot of space, this is the one for you. “Little Owl” is Owl Barn, with just the main, entry level bedroom made up, but full use of the barn, and the massive hot tub. On the entry level, you have the bright, airy master bedroom suite, with superking bed, en-suite shower room, and direct access onto the deck through a French window. There is plenty of space for a cot if required. The Barn has a large light fully equipped kitchen and dining area (also on the entry level), with a light galleried sitting room above with two 4-seater sofas, an armchair and three giant sized beanbags. The sitting room is linked by an internal bridge to a smaller galleried study area. The kitchen is fully equipped, with a huge 2m Siemens fridge-freezer, ceramic hob, Bosch appliances (oven, microwave and dishwasher), a washer-dryer, and an extensive range of pans, utensils and crockery. Everything you need, including cookery books! Enjoy breakfast outside on the south-facing deck area and relax in the huge 8-seater private hot tub, set on a decked area under a gazebo in the rear garden, with great views down the valley.

The Kernock estate lies in South East Conrwall, England, in the Lyner Valley on the edge of the beautiful Tamar Valley (featured on BBC Countryfile), between Dartmoor National Park, Bodmin Moor and the Rame Peninsula (known as Cornwall’s forgotten south east coastal corner). With fabulous moorland, country parks, beaches and unspoilt coastal towns, in addition to the glorious South West Coast Path, visitors are spoilt for choice within the area.
