Paul and Lydia work from home as writers and television producers. We enjoy welcoming new people from all over the world and all walks of life into our family home and will do our utmost to make your stay as friendly, comfortable and convenient as possible. We are always open to suggestions and special requests. Guests booking the ground floor luxury king size en suite with its own separate entrance can enjoy a totally self contained experience and can opt for continental breakfast in their room on request thus ensuring total peace of mind. Guests booking the double room who require a bed for a third guest may also book the single room but their guest will need to share the middle floor bathroom with them. That way we ensure each booking has exclusive use of one or other bathroom.
We have always worked from home and love having people to stay to share a bit of our East Devon life in the delightful town of Colyton, close to the Jurassic Coast. Our four children have (mostly) left home so it's fun meeting and greeting new people from all over the world, as well as welcoming back our regular visitors. We look forward to making you feel at home with delicious home cooked breakfast, lovely comfy beds and plenty of local knowledge.
We are in an area of outstanding natural beauty, close to the sea and some wonderful walks along the Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The historical town of Colyton known as "Devon's Most Rebellious Town" for its part in the Monmouth Rebellion of 1685. Minton House is on a quiet street in the centre of Colyton, a stone's throw from all the amenities, lots of lovely pubs, restaurants, shops, tea rooms and the church. Seaton, Beer and Branscombe beaches are all less than ten minutes drive, with Lyme Regis, Sidmouth and Exmouth very close too. Visit the historic towns of Honiton, Exeter and Thomas Hardy's Dorchester, or enjoy the wilds of the South West Coastal Path and our wonderful Jurassic Coast. There are river walks and wetlands to explore in and around Colyton along with plenty of pubs, restaurants and tea rooms along the way. Seaton Tramway operates narrow gauge heritage trams between Colyton, Colyford and Seaton travelling alongside the River Axe estuary through two nature reserves giving an unrivalled view of the abundant wading bird life.
