Escape to 10 acres of peaceful Kent countryside where mornings are quiet, sunsets glow across the lake, and life finally slows down. Mountbatten and Buckhurst are our two unique spacious luxury Shepherds Huts set in Kent countryside near Port Lympne Safari Park. After years of building and creating, we designed this space to offer something we felt was missing—true calm. Everything here has been created with that in mind. Slow down. Breathe deeper. Stay somewhere that actually feels different. Tucked away in peaceful countryside, our handcrafted shepherds huts offer a truly calming escape—designed for those who want to switch off, reconnect, and experience nature without sacrificing comfort. Wake up to birdsong, sip your morning coffee overlooking open fields, and unwind under vast starry skies. Whether it’s a romantic getaway or a much-needed reset, this is your space to pause. Each hut has been thoughtfully designed to feel warm, cosy, and quietly luxurious—blending rustic charm with modern touches to ensure a relaxing, effortless stay. 🛏️ Inside your hut Comfortable bed with soft linens for a restful sleep Well-equipped kitchenette for simple, relaxed meals Clean, modern bathroom Heating for year-round comfort Thoughtful touches to make your stay feel like a retreat 🌅 The experience Guests love the feeling of arriving and instantly unwinding. No crowds. No pressure. Just space, quiet, and time. It’s the kind of place where: Evenings are slower Mornings feel softer And you leave feeling genuinely recharged Includes breakfast hamper with produce such as bread, butter (picked on site where possible), fruit, orange juice, milk, croissants, pain au chocolat, jam, honey & granola Lots of local walks nearby; within 2 miles of at least 5 country pubs; only 4 miles from the historic Cinque Port seaside town of Hythe Under an hour from London and the continent; 4 miles from the M20 and Channel Tunnel.
We built this We leave guest to their own devices to enjoy the peace and quiet of the Kent Countryside, with contact-free check-in and check-out, although are always contactable, if required. We have a pet Labrador called Dotty, who is very friendly, but lively and likes to meet guests. Please let us know, if any of your party is afraid of or doesn’t like dogs and we will make sure she doesn’t wander over to the Huts during your stay.
Places to eat and drink... While the Shepherd's Huts have full and comprehensive provisions for guests to cater for themselves, we are pleased to recommend some of the best (and our favourite) places to eat and drink locally - both in the local villages, within a mile or so from the Shepherd's Hut, or in our local towns of Hythe, Folkestone and Ashford. There are dozens of excellent pubs and restaurants in our locals villages and towns. Our welcome pack lists our recommendations, along with providing directions, contact numbers and websites. Tourist attraction and places to visit... Our welcome pack also lists many tourist attractions both local to the Shepherd's Huts and elsewhere in Kent. These include amongst others: Port Lympme Safari Park (Approx 3 miles away) Hythe (Approx 4 miles away) Ancient Cinque Port, coastal/seaside town with medieval high street, the famous Royal Military Canal and the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway narrow gauge heritage steam train line to Dymchurch, New Romney and Dungeness Tenterden (Approx 15 miles away) Medieval High Street with art, craft and antiques shops, market and the Old Dairy Brewery in the Town Centre along with a standard gauge heritage steam railway with trains to Northiam and Bodiam (including Bodiam Castle). Nearby is the Chapel Down vineyard, winery, distillery and brewery and the Rare Breeds Centre wildlife park Romney Marsh: - Dymchurch beach and amusement park (Approx 8 miles away) - Dungeness (Approx 15 miles away): With Britain’s only desert, the largest expanse of shingle in the world, famous lighthouses, the RNLI museum and a large RSPB bird and nature reserve - Rye, East Sussex (About 18 miles away) Historic medieval cobbled citadel, 14th Century Ypres Tower, 900 year-old St Mary’s Church with its 84-step tower offering the best views of Rye, and the famous Grade II listed 12th Century "haunted" Mermaid Inn, with purportedly the largest inglenook in the country over its huge open log fire.
