Plumtree House is Victorian family home, traditionally furnished with a small lounge & garden for guests to use. All rooms have views of the surrounding area & Lake District Mountains. The rooms are ensuite, & there is a small table & chairs to enjoy the views, there is also a lounge for guests to use. All the rooms are on the first floor, we do not have a lift, there are 12 stairs a half landing then a further 4, there are also steps to access the property. There is off road parking to the side of the property on a slightly sloping drive. Plumtree house is dog friendly ( free of charge)with easy access to local walks. As Plumtree House is over 160 yrs old and next to fields. We do attract extra guests(spiders) & despite valiant attempts to remove them they may be around just a warning to those of you with a fear of them.
We are Mike and Maureen and have lived in the area for 45 yrs and in Plumtree for 36 yrs. We like to walk in the local area and have a cat called Gypsy and a Border Collie called Brandy so enjoy spending time with them.
Brigsteer is a very quiet.peaceful village 3miles from Kendal & J36 & Oxenholme Station on the West Coast Line. We have no public transport so best to come by car, we do provide secure space for bikes though. The nearest shop is 2miles away but we have an excellent dog friendly pub within walking distance:The Wheatsheaf at Brigsteer. always advisable to book in advance as it gets very busy, if you mention you are staying with us the staff will usually get you a table. There are lots of lovely easy walks in the area Scout Scar and Sizergh Castle are very near and included in one of the easy walks, the nearby Brigsteer Woods has a lovely show of wild daffodils, bluebells and wild garlic each year and is a beautiful place to walk to from the house with a walk to nearby Sizergh Castle for a spot of lunch.. The roads are country roads so can be narrow in places and Sat Nav tends to bring you up the narrowest( shortest) route. J36 follow A590 for Barrow take R turn for Heaves/Sizergh & continue to Brigsteer. We are first house on R as you enter Brigsteer. From Kendal L at Town Hall lights up the hill L at crossroads then nxt R turn Brigsteer Road, approx 4miles at Wheatsheaf pub turn L we are last house in village approx 2mins drive from pub.
