Rothay Cottage, a three-storey home, consists of a kitchen/diner with an electric oven and hob, cafetiere, coffee machine, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, a dining area, and a second-floor sitting room with TV and DVD player. The bedrooms consist of a king-size and a second-floor twin, along with a bathroom and cloakroom. Outside, there is a rear garden with patio and furniture, plus roadside parking available nearby property. Sorry, no pets and no smoking. Shop 0.1 miles, pub 0.2 miles, Lake Windermere 1 mile. WiFi, fuel, power, bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Escape to the heart of the Lake District National Park at Rothay Cottage. Note: Due to steep stairs, this cottage is not suitable for children under 4 years old and for guests with limited mobility. Note: Access to the cottage is restricted to unloading only, with a local parking disc available for 1 car on Millans Park. Parking Permit available in cottage for use in several local car parks.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside with its numerous shops makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips, and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and the lakeside at Waterhead with parkland offering lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach. A walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre. Ambleside has plenty of restaurants and pubs to suit all tastes from great fish & chips to its two Michelin Star restaurants and all tastes in between are catered for.
