Greenhead Park, with its lake, bandstand and miniature railway, is around a twenty-five-minute walk. Beaumont Park, known for its Victorian bridges, waterfalls and woodland trails, is about a twenty-five- to thirty-five-minute walk or a short drive. Castle Hill, topped by the Victoria Tower and an Iron Age hillfort, is roughly one and a half miles away, a ten-minute drive or a thirty- to forty-minute uphill walk for the views. Local pubs are within easy reach, including The Grove for real ales and live music, the Grade II listed Sportsman Inn with its microbrewery and beer garden, and The Victoria about an eight-minute walk away; Ephesus, Cosy Kitchen and Thai Sakon cover Turkish, Italian and Thai dining. Huddersfield Station, in the town centre, is around a twenty-minute walk, and the Peak District National Park is roughly twenty minutes away by car.
