Portaferry Holidays was established in 2025 Our properties were previously run as Bar Hall Barns, but have recently undergone extensive renovation and essential upgrades, to make sure your break is safe, not just enjoyable. Our portfolio is made up of 3 properties, all built circa 1780 and retain many original features and character. Each property offers something different. But they all offer the same peace for anyone needing to get away from the hustle and bustle of life and just a few steps from your front door you will see Strangford Lough and the magnificent Mourne Mountains. A small pebble beach is at the end of the road when the tide is out. The Apartment sleeps 2/3, The Cottage sleeps 4 and The Barn up to 10. So if you're a big family wanting the whole site to yourselves, let us know! Once a year, we will be offering a week's free stay in each of our properties to 3 disadvantaged families during the school holidays. Local Attractions: Mount Stewart House is 27 km away, Bangor Marina 41 km, Clandeboye Estate 43 km, and WWT Castle Espie 45 km from the property. George Best Belfast City Airport is 50 km distant. This area is ideal for fitness and physical training, not to mention for promoting positive emotional health due to the rural, peaceful location. We welcome cyclists, walkers, canoeists, athletes, corporate team building and nature observers. Large family groups may find this accommodation perfectly suited for their needs. The property is fully equipped and cots/high chairs are available upon request. Portaferry and the surrounding areas are ripe for discovery and the beauty of the Ards Peninsula is captivating. From small, sometimes hidden beaches, to the tempest of the Irish sea meeting Strangford Lough, from the impressively magnificent Mourne Mountains to the quaint sea front and streets of Portaferry itself, the contrasting landscapes are all waiting for you to explore. In July, there is the Portaferry Festival Gala Festival from 18-24th and the Sails and Sounds Festival from 31 July to the 3 August. The Gala is in its 59th year, impressive indeed! It includes activities such as the Tractor Run, Party in the Park, a Sports Quiz, a paper boat race and pure Blarney acoustic folk and rock, and loads more for the whole family. Take a day out to drive through Mourne Mountains, pop over to Strangford on the ferry, experience the Ballyquinten trail, hike to your heart's content or simply spend time at the waterfront.
