Located on the Scottish north coast, less than an hour from Aberdeen, this is the Blue Hoose that is not actually blue! But it is a building well known to the locals of Gardenstown and enjoys an enviable position overlooking the harbour and Gamrie Bay. The building dates back to the very establishment of the village of Gardenstown in the 18th century and is a Scottish Listed Building (Category B). It’s original function was that of a fisherman’s net store and warehouse, hence its location right on the harbour wall and the double-height of the lower level where nets would have been hauled in for maintenance. The upper storeys were possibly used for habitation at some time although sails and nets were also known to have been made there. After a long period of vacancy and partial conversion the Blue Hoose was purchased by Matthew Clubb in 2017. He completed the renovation of the building and made it the two bedroom house it now is. There are two bedrooms and a bathroom on the top floor, the kitchen is a double height space on the lower level. The kitchen leads onto a spacious veranda right next to the harbour which is ideal for summer evening meals and BBQs.

Gardenstown is one of Scotland's best kept secrets with a vibrant community. Unlike some of the smaller villages along this part of the coast there is still a large community here serviced by the school, the church, a shop and a great pub. In the summer the harbour is alive with locals and tourists enjoying the waters edge and the charity café that opens for 12 weeks.
