The Cottage is located just outside of Steeple Bumpstead on the Suffolk and Essex boarder, ideally located for great countryside walks, heritage, nature, and nearby places worth visiting! Within the village of Steeple Bumpstead, there is a traditional village pub, The Fox & Hounds providing home cooked meals made with quality fresh food made with locally sourced ingredients. Or why not visit The Red Lion, another traditional pub situated opposite the Church of St Mary. This historic inn blends classic countryside charm with modern amenities, with a cosy bar and garden area. Explore St Mary's Church and the historic Moot Hall, a Grade II listed historic market hall and old school building, which is situated in the heart of Steeple Bumpstead, fantastic for a stroll and taking in the local history. Steeple Bumpstead is also a fantastic place for local walks, including circular routes passing fields, Moyns Park Estate and Birdbrook, which a great for gentle hikes. Further afield, take a trip to Clare Castle Country Park Trust, a beautiful park with castle ruins, walking trails along the riverside and picnic areas. Melford Country Park in Long Melford is a peaceful country park with water, woods and open space, again another great place for a stroll. Kentwell Hall in Long Melford is a historic tudor manor boasting beautiful gardens to explore, along with the house which is filled with history. Take a visit to Suffolk's only standard gauge heritage railway, offering steam open days and events to the general public.
