The House at Glenbarr Stores is a newly renovated guest house in the heart of Glenbarr, a peaceful village on the west coast of Kintyre. Set right next door to our café, gift shop and garden centre, it is a relaxed and welcoming base for families, couples, walkers, cyclists and anyone looking to explore this beautiful part of Argyll. The House has four comfortable bedrooms and one larger suite, The Hayloft. Rooms are either en-suite or have a private shower room just across the small hall. Originally an inn in the 1800s, the building has been part of village life for generations, and today offers a warm, simple and homely place to stay. Guests can enjoy the convenience of having Glenbarr Stores next door, with fresh coffee, homemade cakes, lunch, local gifts, plants and garden centre shopping all just a few steps away. For families, there is space to relax, nearby beaches to explore, and plenty of easy day trips without needing to travel far. We are just 15 minutes from Campbeltown, around 30 minutes from Machrihanish, and 45 minutes from Tarbert, making The House a great base for discovering Kintyre, the islands and the west coast.

Glenbarr is perfectly placed for exploring Kintyre’s beaches, islands, walks and scenic driving routes. We are only around a mile from beautiful sandy beaches with some of the best coastal views in Scotland. The Kintyre 66 driving route passes through the area and is a fantastic way to discover the peninsula by car, motorbike or bicycle. From Glenbarr, guests can easily explore Campbeltown, Machrihanish, Tarbert, Skipness, Southend and the wider west coast. For families, there are beaches, wildlife, gentle walks, ferry trips, play opportunities and plenty of space to enjoy a slower pace. Westport Beach is popular for walking, surfing and windsurfing, while Machrihanish is well known for golf and spectacular views. Glenbarr is also a great base for island adventures.
