The Lodge, a self-contained, private annex located on the grounds of a breathtakingly beautiful thatched cottage in Felsted. Situated above a garage, this cosy yet spacious studio apartment is a perfect retreat for anyone seeking a little countryside bliss. It’s a paradise for walkers, who are spoiled for choice by trails - just outside the garden. Surrounded by nature, it’s hard to believe it's only 1hr from London and 20 mins from Stansted airport - convenient for travellers from near & far! Turn off a narrow country lane into a large driveway where you can drive up to the far end to park as close to the annex as possible. Walk through a gate to a self-contained patio area which leads to a signposted door accessing Oak Lodge. Enter into a small lobby before walking up a flight of stairs to arrive in the studio apartment where you’ll find an open plan kitchen / dining / living room / bedroom area with an enclosed en-suite bathroom. The lobby entrance + cupboard has: - Space for outdoor shoes - Hooks for hanging coats and outerwear - Washing machine - Ironing board + iron The kitchen is equipped with: - Cooking utensils - Dining essentials - Small fridge - 4 ring electric hob - Microwave with oven features - Breakfast bar + 2 stools - Gorgeous sunset views The bathroom is complete with: - Large walk-in rainfall shower - Toilet + toilet paper - Vanity unit with basin - Towels - Heated Towel Rail - Shower gel + hand wash The living area features: - WIFI - 42 inch TV with Amazon fire stick (use your own login to access Netflix, Prime etc) - Comfortable sofa bed (bedding can be provided) - Electric fire plus wall heaters - Small coffee table - Decorative flowers and books The bedroom space has: - King size sleigh bed - Bedside tables with lamps - Bed linen and scatter cushions

While we operate a self check-in process, we will always be on hand to help our guests as much or as little as they prefer. As we live on the premises, we will never be too far away to say hello, share our local knowledge and help out in any emergencies. That said, we are also happy to leave you in peace for the duration of your stay should you like to switch off entirely. We are avid gardeners so you may see us pottering around the large acre of garden and, despite our best efforts, it is extremely likely you will meet our friendly English Cocker Spaniel called Louis during your stay - so please make us aware if you are uncomfortable with or allergic to dogs.

The Lodge is extremely private and while we are now retired, therefore available to help guests most of the time, we do respect guests' privacy. To that end, we have a 'Lock box' access system, which enables guests to be completely independent. There is a relatively long drive with ample space for guest car parking. The position of the Lodge offers guest peace and privacy. Located within a 1.5 acre garden and surrounded by fields, there are no neighbours and apart from the odd plane form Stansted Airport, no noise. This property is on the grounds of a family home with a loving and friendly English Cocker Spaniel called Louis. We are happy to welcome other well-behaved dogs as long as you reach out in advance to discuss it. We would love our guests to make themselves at home during their stay whilst also respecting the fact it is a family home - no parties, late night noise, bad behaviour etc. We’re also very happy to accommodate bespoke requests so please feel free to message us with any unusual questions.
