The Smithy House & Cottages (one cottage with double bed and separate bedroom, and one cottage studio-style with twin beds) are located in Stoer, alongside the B869 Assynt Coastal Route of the NC500. The small village of Stoer lies just south of the Stoer Peninsula and immediately north of Clachtoll. Its scatter of houses and crofts are bisected by the single track B869, the twisting road that follows the coast from Lochinver north then east to Kylesku. Breathtaking views and landscape with a real sense of peace and getting away from it all to enjoy nature and relax. Offering 2 self-catering cottages, detached from each other but within our 3 acre croft. Each has been renovated to a high standard with full kitchen facilities, shower rooms and log burners in the sitting areas. The Smithy cottage offers open plan studio accommodation sleeping up to 2 in twin beds. The Byre cottage offers a separate double bedroom sleeping up to 2, and open plan kitchen/dining/sitting area with views over the croft and hills at the back (watch out for the deer in the evenings feeding on the hills!). Both cottages have outdoor seating areas. Private parking is available for guests. There is no minimum stay requirement, although we do discount our rates for stays of more than one night.

The Smithy House & Cottages are set amidst stunning scenery in Europe's last great wilderness, our cottages make ideal bases for relaxing, walking, sailing, fishing (sea and loch), stunning beaches and geology; all from your doorstep! We are in the Northwest Highlands of Scotland: approximately 8 miles north of Lochinver; 40 miles north of Ullapool; 98 miles north of Inverness. There is plenty to see and do whilst staying at the Smithy Cottages, many being within walking distance of your front door; Clashnessie Beach and Clashnessie Waterfall, Bay of Stoer and Clachtoll beach are all within a 15-20 minute walk. Within a 15-20 minute drive, there is Achmelvich Beach, Drumbeg, Stoerhead Lighthouse and Old Man of Stoer, as well as Lochinver village. The single-track B869 'wee mad road' (as it's known locally!) is a stunning drive with beautiful views with each corner you turn. It's renowned to be one of the most scenic drives in the country. Locally you will also find Kylesku Bridge, Loch Assynt, Ardvrek Castle, the Bone Caves at Inchnadamph and Wailing Widow Falls, all within a 30 minute drive from the cottages.
