Company info

The Thorold (formerly The Thorold Arms) is run as a Community Benefit Society (CBS). This means it is owned by over 200 mostly local shareholders and is managed and operated by a board of up to 12 shareholders (voted on at an Annual Members Meeting) together with many paid staff and volunteers.

Property info

The Thorold probably dates from the late 19th century but has recently (2019) been opened up and totally refurbished into a contemporary-styled rural pub. Our manager lives on-site. There is a restaurant and lunch and an evening meal are available 7 days a week as is breakfast for guests staying in the B&B rooms. The restaurant and bar are licensed and there is a good range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks available. There is also a small village store at the back of the pub selling a wide range of items. There is a garden and a car park.

Neighborhood info

Marston is a rural village in Lincolnshire between Grantham and Newark and a mile from the A1 (The Great North Road). The pub is on the Viking Way a trail from Rutland to Humberside (over 147 miles). There are also several local walks centered on the pub and the area is popular with cyclists. Access is easy by car and mainline train services operate regularly to both Grantham and Newark a 20 minute taxi ride away.
