Neighborhood info

‘Kirrie’, as it’s known by locals, has an interesting history with links to witchcraft, the jute trade and weaving. The author and playwright J.M Barrie was born and buried here and a statue of Peter Pan stands in the town square. The location is excellent for visitors. As well as having local shops nearby, there’s also easy access to the motorway linking Aberdeen to the north and to Dundee to the south. You are close to the Angus Glens which are home to wildlife including buzzards and red squirrels, plus you are not far from the ski slopes at Glenshee. Forfar is just 6 miles away with a larger range of shops plus sports and leisure facilities. Other attractions in the area include Glamis Castle, the Bon Scott statue and the Loch of Kinnordy Nature Reserve. Golfers are well served with courses at Kirriemuir, Forfar and Alyth plus the championship courses at Carnoustie and Rosemount (Blairgowrie) are within easy driving distance. For beach lovers, there are pleasant sandy beaches at Lunan Bay, St Cyrus and Montrose.
