"Tilly Cottage" offers comfortable, well-equipped & homely accommodation for up to 4 people (Two double beds) Tucked away on a quiet terrace in village of Evenwood, situated between Barnard Castle and Bishop Auckland it offers a great value break. Cottage style' kitchen with large range cooker, dishwasher, fridge freezer and microwave, Utility room with washing machine and a place to store bikes, Open plan living/dining room, Wifi and Freesat TV channels. Gas central heating, 2 double bedrooms, one with an additional small dressing and seating area. Bathroom with a fab walk-in shower and a roll-top slipper bath. Bedinen, Towels and tea towels provided. There is a House Manual in the property. PLEASE READ UPON ARRIVAL as it contains important information to ensure you have a comfortable stay. To the front of the property is an enclosed garden. To the rear is a small enclosed yard. One well behaved dog accepted but please request upon booking. Please note, whilst children are welcome to stay, the bedrooms are set up, each with a double bed only. There are no extra beds or cots, and we do not have a highchair or stairgates.

On the edge of the Durham Dales, an Area of Outstanding beauty, Tilly Cottage offers you a perfect base to explore. Whilst not a 'picturesque tourist village' (Evenwood was part of the industrial heritage of the of the Durham coal field) it does have local amenities with a mini-market, post office, cafes and pubs within walking distance of the cottage. Please note there is no private parking on the premises. Free on-street parking is available on The Green and Chapel Street. The access lane to Tilly Cottage is restricted for traffic and bumpy in parts. PLEASE BRING A TORCH IF ARRIVING AFTER DARK. Evenwood is within easy reach by car (most within 15-20 minutes drive) to all tourist activities that this beautiful area has to offer, including Raby Castle, Hamsterley Forest, High Force waterfall, Bowes Museum, Locomotion at Shildon (Railway museum) Auckland Castle, the Kynren Light and Sound performance, the Durham Dales, Stanhope Steam Railway, Durham City, and the town of Barnard Castle with its amazing array of quirky shops and eateries and slightly further afield the living history museum of Beamish and the beautiful Durham Heritage Coast.
