Viewfield has been in the Macdonald family since the early 19th century. Once a private house, it was opened for Bed and Breakfast in 1954 by the Great Grandparents of the current incumbent (Iona, and her husband Jasper). A more detailed history of the house is available on our website.

Viewfield House is set in 20 acres of woodland garden, just ten-minutes walk from Portree. Built over 200 years ago, Viewfield provides uniquely charming country house accommodation. The house is originally Georgian with a substantial Victorian addition. Much of the period interiors remain in tact, and great care has been taken to conserve the building's history. Bedrooms at Viewfield are individually decorated, and refreshingly singular. There are 11 rooms in the main house. Two further bedrooms, the Doocot and the Tack Room are located in the Old Stables adjacent to the main house. The Tack Room is especially handy for people travelling with pets. Breakfasts are delicious and plentiful: everything a Scottish breakfast ought to be. Our Hom made pies are served every evening at 7.30pm. All dietary requirements can be catered to; please just let us know. Drinks are served by a roaring fire in the drawing room. We are always on hand with recommendations for days out on Skye. Sailing trips can be arranged on board our yacht, Breeze.
